In a bid to revive Bangladesh’s SME sector from the losses inflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation, an apex organization for SME development, has waived off loans to the tune of Tk1 billion last month through 19 banks and financial institutions.
Revealing this, SME Foundation officials said the apex institution has also signed agreements with those 19 banks and financial institutions to disburse loans worth Tk2 billion to SMEs under the second phase of the government’s incentive package. Meanwhile, loans of Tk420 million have been released for 316 entrepreneurs, and another Tk420 million have been sanctioned for 230 entrepreneurs.
