Loan disbursement to MSME units in the most populous Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has surged 2.5 times within the past four years. Disclosing this, UP Chief Secretary RK Tewari said the total amount of loans disbursed to MSMEs increased from Rs 281.36 billion in 2016-17 to Rs 737.65 billion in 2020-21. Currently, UP ranks first among Indian states in terms of the establishment of MSME units. The state presently has 9 million registered MSME units, which is 14.2% of the country’s total number of registered units. Lately, the UP government has created an investment-friendly environment by giving time-bound approvals to investors under the MSME Act 2020.
