Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Microfinance portfolio outstanding in India has witnessed an impressive year-on-year growth of 18% during the financial year 2020-21, ending on 31st March 2021 to reach Rs 2,492.77 billion. Banks posted the highest year-on-year growth of 36% in portfolio outstanding, with a consistent increase in market share.
Revealing this, Microfinance Pulse, a SIDBI-Equifax quarterly publication, said the Microfinance industry disbursed loans to the tune of Rs 931.00 billion during January, February and March 2021 (JFM’21), showing a 26% growth in disbursement as compared to the same period of the previous year (JFM’20).
