The total number of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 27.8 per cent to 60,340 at the end of October 2021 from 47,220 in October 2020.
The number of new MSMEs established during the period was the highest at 20,422 in Muscat Governorate. It was followed by the North Al Batinah Governorate with new MSMEs at 9,508 and Al Dakhiliyah Governorate with 7,382 establishments. Meanwhile, Dhofar Governorate ranked fourth with 5088 new MSMEs, which is an increase of 29.1 per cent.
