Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), 103,219 micro-enterprises were set up at a total investment of nearly Rs 120 billion, and 825,752 jobs were generated during the financial year ending March 31, 2022, across India. The Government of India launched PMEGP in 2008 to promote entrepreneurship and create employment opportunities by offering financial assistance to individuals. The program provides maximum assistance of Rs 2.5 million for setting up new manufacturing units and Rs 1 million for new service units. Individuals above 18 years of age and who have passed VIII grade are eligible to apply for assistance under this scheme.
