UK-based financial institution Pomelo Pay has teamed up with Sri Lanka’s telecom service provider Dialog Axiata to promote financial inclusion among more than 80,000 Sri Lankan SMEs. This partnership is part of Pomelo Pay’s goal of broadening its global presence and will, in turn, bring the country’s SME merchants using different Dialog Axiata payment platforms to a single interface named Genie. Pomelo Pay’s platform will combine with the national integrated payment system LANKAQR so that Dialog Axiata can provide an alternative payment method for SME merchants. It will help save recurring fees charged by traditional POS terminals and make and track all financial transactions online.
