To help SMEs in Greece to overcome trade finance barriers, European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed an agreement with HSBC to make available a €200 million facility to finance trade for mid-caps and SMEs in Greece. This collaboration and the €200 million facility would encourage the expansion of international trade by Greek SMEs. The deal between the two entities has been done under EIB’s Trade Finance Facility and would strive to mitigate transaction and systemic risks prevailing in the Greek trade finance space. Until now, EIB’s Trade Finance Facility has reportedly supported around €1 billion worth of international trade activity for Greece.
