The business sentiment at some of the smaller companies across China has shown signs of improvement in January as the country’s economy is gradually recovering from the damage inflicted by the Covid pandemic. The CKGSB Business Conditions Index, which evaluates the financing environment, profits, sales, and inventory of small businesses in China’s private sector, surged to 49.7 in January from 45.2 in December. A press release issued by the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business indicated that three of the four major sub-indexes – financing, profit, and sales – rose during January while inventory weakened. The release added that the BCI at the surveyed businesses is on the rise.
