The Malaysian Federation of Hawkers and Traders Association has urged government authorities to review the Free Trade Zone (WBB) program launched in November 2020. Originally, WBB was introduced to help traders and hawkers who had lost their income due to the Covid-19 pandemic to start small businesses in suitable areas by giving them free business space in the three Federal Territories. However, taking advantage of the program, a rising number of them started doing their business in unauthorized locations and inappropriate places like sidewalks, thus blocking pedestrian traffic, putting the public at risk, and causing great inconvenience to the local community.
