The Small and Medium Enterprises Association Malaysia (SAMENTA) has urged the Finance Ministry to address the most urgent issues affecting the nation’s SME sector in the Budget 2023 that would be tabled in Parliament on Friday, the 24th February. Revealing that cost pressures and labour shortage were some of the urgent issues affecting the recovery of SMEs, SAMENTA chairman Datuk William Ng said there are also other long-term challenges that should be addressed at the earliest opportunity to ensure that the country’s SMEs remain competitive. They include low productivity, regional competition, digital displacement, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) compliance.
