Small merchants in Denmark affected by high energy prices can get direct financial assistance of up to 50,000 Danish kroner (US$7,083) from the federal government. Under a temporary support scheme announced on February 10, the Denmark Parliament (Folketing) has set aside 75 million Danish kroner (US$10.7 million) to help small businesses affected by high energy prices if they are located in towns having less than 2,500 inhabitants. Emphasizing that the proposed scheme gives a much-needed helping hand to small businesses, Danish Minister Morten Bodshok said small merchants affected by rising energy prices could apply for financial assistance for energy-saving measures.
