Digitalization will drive the global recovery of small businesses as online payment and marketing systems will enable SMEs to tap a new, global customer base, the World Economic Forum said on Monday. Pitching for the adoption of digital technology on the first day of its five-day annual meeting in Davos on January 16, WEF said that the future of shopping is increasingly online as the way people shop has been changing for years. The digital shift will further accelerate in the coming years as the number of mobile device users globally is likely to surge to 7.52 billion in 2026 from 6.38 billion in 2021, it added.
