Though Iraq has 13 million women in the working age group, only a few million are working. And among them, there is a minimal number of female entrepreneurs because Iraq’s social customs and traditions prevent many women from working outside their homes by limiting women’s activities to their domestic and nurturing roles. Despite such prejudices posing practical difficulties, many women entrepreneurs still keep dreaming. And a good number of them manage to emerge as successful business owners because of the help, support, encouragement, training, and professional guidance they receive from various organizations working to bolster the ranks of female Iraqi businesswomen.
