Nigerian startup Kippa, launched to enhance small businesses’ lifecycle with its payments and finance management platform, has secured US$8.4 million in the seed round. Kippa said the money would help it develop financial products for SMEs, enabling the latter to grow their businesses. Kippa is among the multiple bookkeeping apps for sub-Saharan African SMEs, including Pastel, Bumpa, OZE, and Bamba. In November 2021, Ekezie-Joseph, CEO of Kippa, said his startup had over 130,000 active small business clients ranging from kiosks and local food vendors to specialized merchants. Kippa is backed by ventures like Goodwater Capital, Vibe Capital, TEN 13 VC, and Saison Capital.
