A top delegation from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) met officials of the MSME Development Agency (MSMEDA) to discuss and explore continued support for SMEs in Egypt. It discussed ways to increase both financial aid and non-financial aid for SMEs. Khalida Bouzar, Assistant Secretary-General of UNDP and director of the regional bureau for Arab states, highlighted the increasingly important role played by MSMEs in the region’s economy. Bouzar also stressed on the importance of MSMEs in achieving sustainable development. Sylvain Merlin, Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP, stressed on support for small enterprises that contribute to providing jobs, opening export units, and developing production.
